Czech player Linda Noskova created a major upset at the ongoing Australian Open when she sent packing first seed Iga Swiatek in the third round on Saturday (January 20) at the Rod Laver Arena. The Pole won the first set 6-3, but could not continue her winning ways in the second and third set losing the match with a score of (6-3, 3-6, 4-6).
Before crushing Swiatek, the 19-year-old defeated Marie Bouzkova and Mccartney Kessler in the first and second rounds. It’s also the first time Noskova is playing at the Australian Open. She will now face Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina in the fourth round on Monday (January 22).
After the ouster of Swiatek, Noskova, as expected, grabbed the attention of the tennis world. Fans now want to know more about this teenager.
Noskova is a tennis player from the Czech Republic. She turned pro in July 2019 and since then, she has been on a roll.
Noskova reached her career-best ranking of no. 40 in October 2023. She also plays doubles matches and reached her best ranking of 160 in October 2022.
