As Spurs’ summer of upheaval continues, the out-of-favour Tanganga looks set to leave the club he joined at the age of ten, with Augsburg winning the race for the Englishman’s signature. The deal is a year-long loan initially, with a buy option included in the deal.
The England U21 international has been in demand this summer, reportedly attracting interest from Everton, Luton Town and Lyon. With the transfer window set to slam shut at the end of the day, Tanganga will travel for a medical on Friday morning.
The 24-year-old burst onto the scene back in January 2020, when he was thrust into Spurs’ starting line-up against the then runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool, putting in what former manager Jose Mourinho described as an “amazing” performance.

Since his impressive debut however, Tanganga has struggled to nail down a regular place in the Tottenham side, making just 21 league appearances over the past three seasons. He offers versatility, having started matches at full-back, wing-back and centre-back during that time. However, his failure to secure a more consistent role has seen him consider options elsewhere.
Spurs have spent the summer aiming to strengthen a defence that leaked 63 goals in the league last season. New arrival Micky van de Ven has slotted straight into the centre of the defence, while Destiny Udogie has started all three Premier League games since returning from his loan spell at Udinese.
With Tanganga set to depart, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier have also both been linked with moves elsewhere before the window closes.
