San Francisco 49ers sign three members of their 2024 NFL Draft class to four-year rookie deals
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers have almost half of their 2024 NFL Draft class signed after inking three of their picks to four-year rookie deals.

San Francisco signed second-round pick Renardo Green and fourth-rounders Isaac Guerendo and Jacob Cowing to four-year rookie contracts.

Cornerback Green was taken 64th overall after the 49ers traded back in the second round with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 49ers dealt two fifth-rounders to move up in the fourth round to take running back Guerendo. Cowing was the Niners' final pick of the fourth, one that saw them make him their second wide receiver selection of the draft. San Francisco took Florida wideout Ricky Pearsall in the first round.

Pearsall remains unsigned, along with third-round pick Dominick Puni, fourth-rounder Malik Mustapha, sixth-rounder Jarrett Kingston and seventh-round selection Tatum Bethune.

However, those deals should all be formalities, as most contracts for draft picks are in the modern NFL following the implementation of the rookie wage scale.

In Green, Guerendo and Cowing, the 49ers have nailed down three players who figure to play substantial roles in the coming years.

Green was selected likely with a view to him succeeding one of Charvarius Ward or Deommodore Lenoir as a starting corner. Both Ward and Lenoir are free agents next offseason.

The 49ers will hope Guerendo can be a long-term contributor in the backfield with Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason both bound for free agency next year, while Cowing may have more opportunities in 2025 with Deebo Samuel's future beyond this season in doubt.

But both have the type of game-changing speed that could see them have an impact as rookies, either on offense or as part of the special teams, with the new kickoff rules set to provide a lot more opportunities for speedy return men to do damage.
