Watch: Dodgers' James Outman homers in first career MLB at bat

James Outman was called up by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday to make his major league debut against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, and he wasted no time introducing himself.

In his first career plate appearance, Outman belted a ball 405-feet over the fence in right-center field to start off his MLB career with a home run.

Outman, 25, was a seventh round draft pick in 2018 and spent time this season with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers and Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers before getting called up by Los Angeles. In 90 games this year in the minors, Outman had 21 home runs, 69 RBI, and a .915 OPS.

On Saturday, he told reporters that his recent run of success at the plate came after a "complete rebuild" of his "caveman" swing.

The Dodgers called up Outman to add an outfielder to the roster after trading Zach McKinstry to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for pitcher Chris Martin.
