The Arizona Diamondbacks are vying for a series sweep of the Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon and looking to move up to the .500 mark for the first time since the opening week of the 2022 season. Things started out ominously in the bottom of the first inning when Marlins leadoff man Jon Berti knocked a solo home run to give the hosts a 1-0 cushion, but from there, Diamondbacks starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner retired the side on three straight flyouts.
As "MadBum" made his way off of the field after the first frame though, things got tense.

Following the top of the second inning, Miami's starting pitcher — Elieser Hernandez — was checked for possible foreign substances on his pitching hand as well, but the check went without incident.
