Ohio State went crazy this offseason, returning players and bringing in players from the portal. One position that saw massive upgrades was running back.

Ohio State Is Loaded At Running Back

The Buckeyes saw TreVeyon Henderson return for his senior year. Many thought he would enter the NFL Draft this spring but decided he would return for one more season. It didn’t stop with him. The Buckeyes also brought in Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins, one of the best running backs in the portal, making it the best running back duo in the country.

Dallan Hayden Was The Odd Man Out

Of course, when players return and bring in new ones, other players on the roster lose out on playing time, and for running back Dallan Hayden, that was his reality.

Hayden would be the third-string back this season after there was a chance he would be the first-string running back if Henderson went to the NFL and Judkins never transferred in.

Hayden Says Goodbye

A report came out last week that Hayden would enter the spring transfer portal, and on Monday night, Hayden put out a letter on his X account thanking the team, school, and all the coaches who brought him to be a Buckeye.

Hayden played a massive role in 2022 when Henderson went down late in the season. Hayden had to take control of the snaps against Maryland and even played a significant role in the Michigan game.

Ohio State saved Hayden last season and would only let him see action for up to four games so they could save his redshirt so that Hayden will have three more seasons left of eligibility.

I wish Hayden all the best in the world. Hopefully, he will become a starter this season for an excellent program.
