Penn State is a finalist for one of the top—rated tight ends in the 2025 recruiting class.

Nate Roberts, a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Washington, Oklahoma, has Penn State in his top five along with Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Oregon.

On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news Monday evening.

Tyler Calvurso of Lions247 also reported that Roberts has scheduled an official visit to Penn State for the weekend of May 31.

Penn State offered him last January. Along with his finalists, Roberts also has offers from schools such as Notre Dame, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Cal, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas State, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Purdue, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Utah, Washington, Washington State and Wisconsin.

247Sports’ composite ratings have Roberts as the No. 5 TE in the country from his class as well as the second-ranked player in Oklahoma and the No. 118 overall prospect.

This past season, he gained 816 yards and scored eight touchdowns on 38 catches.

In an interview with 247Sports, Roberts spoke highly of Penn State and it’s tight ends coach, Ty Howle.

“I like Penn State a lot,” said Roberts. “Me and coach Howle, the tight ends coach, we have built a great relationship. Their tight end use is something you can barely beat. They produce top tight ends. If you want to go to the league, you definitely want to go there.”

In an earlier interview with 247, Roberts said each of his top five “have kept in great contact with me.”

“They have made me a priority,” he said. “They are showing me love and showing me a lot of interest. They are showing me that I am their number one target.”

All three of 247Sports’ “Crystal ball” projections have Roberts picking Ohio State.
